Well, I’m back in Chicago and I have to say that I already miss Dickinson. It was one of the best experiences of my life. I still keep in touch with most of my friends from New Jersey, Georgia, Philadelphia, New York and Maryland… My professor was really cool and treated us as college students which gave us the full college experience. I hope to become a RA when I am at the right age at
Dickinson. Thank you so much for making this once in a life time chance
possible for me and [my] family. |

…I have been at Dickinson for 4 days now. Today was my 2nd day of class. My first class is Sociology… Then I have history… Carlisle is a beautiful small town. This is so different from Chicago… |

…I like my professor for Sociology. We have many discussions. My professor for history is a little boring but she is so sweet… I think you are right about me being busy with classes and not having time to think about being away from home. I have 2 papers to write and 4 tests to worry about. I'm sure that those will keep me busy. I know this is for the best and I am so lucky to have been chosen for this great opportunity. Thank you so much for all that you have done for me. |

…I spent my whole Saturday at Hershey Park. It was so much fun. I went on the chocolate tour and I saw Amish people, too… I had an
English midterm today. I was so happy because it was so easy and everyone else in my class was stressing out. I have another midterm in Sociology on Wednesday. I also went on a ghost tour on Friday. They told us all the ghost stories around campus… |

…Well, I finished my classes at Dominican…Well, I had lots of fun at Dominican. At the end of the program we had a small ceremony and I had to give a speech thanking Dominican for allowing us to be there. It was lots of fun!...Well, I just want to say thank you so much for all that you did for me. Thanks for providing me with all I needed. I said it once and I’ll say it again, I was very fortunate to have a mentor like you who actually cared and took the time to help out students like me!... |

Well, everything at Dominican is going great. I have met new people and at the same time I have gotten to know my friends from my high school much better. Well, the classes are all very helpful. Right now we have finished the math, next week we start science. The math is very different to what I have had at high school, there are some problems that I have never seen and some that are just too easy. I'm so glad that I have been given this opportunity because I am able to improve on my strongest skill which is math. These classes have been much harder for me because I am not used to working on a subject without going over the lesson. But the strong part about that is that I am able to see what I need help with and I'm seeing that if I don't step up and ask for the help I won't get it. Teachers aren't mind readers they only help if you ask for the help, this is something that this program has made me notice… |

…I’m doing great! Right now I'm at Dominican in the computer lab!! I just took an ACT practice test for English! Well, so far my experience here has been great! The teachers and classes are fun!! The classes are 3 hours long but they’re still fun! I have classes with different kids from different schools! They are not so bad! They are actually fun! Well, thanks for everything you've done for me! I really appreciate it!!... |

…Well, the best thing about the experience was meeting entirely new people, being myself and them accepting it, and learning that I can be on my own and take care of myself. . Another thing that was so awesome about the experience was that everyone was comfortable with one another, by the second day it already felt as if we were with one another for a month! The people make the experience worthwhile. I learned so much, that I don't know where to begin. I learned a lot about Journalism and all of its aspects. From photography, to writing, to designing, editing, reporting, interviewing. Plus, this was an opportunity to perfect my writing skills which was one of my reasons for going. But the hardest part of the experience was being strong about being home sick. I had to suck it in and let it not interfere with my experience. All around I seriously had a blast, and would do it again in a heart beat! P.S. Thanks for everything |
